Shower types
What powers the shower.
The type of shower you can have depends on your hot-water system. Some showers use the hot water you already have; others heat it themselves or need a pump.

The basics
Start with your hot-water system. A combi boiler or an unvented cylinder delivers hot water at mains pressure; a tank in the loft delivers it by gravity, often at low pressure.
