Bath wastes and overflows
How the bath drains.
Every bath has a waste to let the water out and an overflow to stop it spilling over. The kind you choose changes how you open and close the plug.
- Most common
- Click-clack
- Traditional
- Plug and chain
- No tap needed
- Overflow filler
- Freestanding
- Exposed or floor waste
The basics
The waste sits in the base of the bath, connected to a trap below; the overflow is the opening near the rim that drains away excess water. They're usually bought together as one set.
