Linear drain
A long channel along the floor.
A long, narrow channel drain, usually along a wall or across the entrance of a level shower. The floor falls in one direction, which makes large tiles easier to lay.

What it is
A slim channel with a grate, set into the floor. The floor slopes gently towards it from one side.
Good for
Large tiles
A single fall means fewer awkward tile cuts.
Clean lines
A neat strip rather than a central grate.
What to weigh up
Planning
Its position sets the fall of the whole shower floor.
Cleaning
The channel needs clearing of hair from time to time.
